In preparation for my son’s 2nd birthday party I decided to get some portraits done. How could I not with a theme like “Preppy Tie Shop”? I had my mom make some bow ties and neck ties to coordinate with the party and had Chase model them. My initial goal was to create an invitation that looked like a promotional ad you would receive from a clothing shop, but I decided that it would make more sense to stick to something generic given that I sell printable invitations. Let’s be honest, most people aren’t going to do a full on photo shoot for a birthday party ; ) So, my revised goal was to get some images I could display at the party (and around our house).
Lucky for me, Jordan from CapturedNH, has a family farm that was the PERFECT backdrop for these photos so I got a old chair from a local antique shop and headed to the farm for the shoot. Here are some of my favorite images from the shoot.
This is my absolute favorite image from the photo shoot and it was beyond perfect for a welcome sign. I added some text and blew it up onto a 20×30 canvas to display at the party and then in our home.
Here’s the modified version that was blown up. I liked it so much that I’ve decided to do this every year and then display all of the canvases in our (future) media room. I hope it has a lot of wall space because 2 kids x 18 years x 20×30 inches is going to require quite a bit!
…and here’s my favorite outtake! Typical Chase behavior : ) I’ll be sharing the details of his party soon so stay tuned!
